Formed by ex-Hum singer/guitarist Matt Talbot and bassist Derek Niedringhaus (ex-Sarge), Centaur picks up where Hum left off. While the act lacks some of the flash that made Hum an unlikely staple of mid-'90s radio, Centaur still builds on ruddy, overamplified guitars, textured arrangements and the space obsession found in Talbot's former act. Slower tempos and more introverted songwriting also mark another slight break from the Hum legacy.
