Ian MacKaye's first post-Minor Threat band, Embrace turned its attention from the ranting themes of MacKaye's earlier band to more intoverted, emotional lyrics and themes. Though not as toned down and pop-oriented as modern emo, Embrace helped to launch the emo movement, with hard-hitting sounds blurring the lines between traditional hardcore and emo, laying the blueprint for emocore bands to follow.
