Forming from the ruins of the Minutemen after the death of D. Boon, fIREHOSE's sound builds on the eclectic influences demonstrated by the Minutemen, though employing a softer, more roots oriented sound. Not as hard as the band's previous incarnation, fIREHOSE puts a higher premium on experimentation. After a disapointing outing with a major, the band would slowly slip between the cracks; by 1995 bassist/singer Mike Watt would launch a solo career.
