>> Heartbreakers
The Heartbreakers formed out of the ruins of the New York Dolls, led by ex-Dolls guitarist Johnny Thunders in 1975, playing up the more chaotic aspects of the Dolls’ style, leaving behind its glam-rock trappings and moving closer to traditional punk rock. Richard Hell would briefly play bass with the combo, but would leave to form the Voidoids before the band found success. Though finding limited success in the English punk scene, drug problems would soon force the band to splinter after only a single studio album. Thunders would continue his musical career, briefly forming Gang War with the MC5’s Wayne Kramer and later pursuing a solo career.
