This Gainesville, Fla., foursome helped lay the foundation for modern post-hardcore. With a sound that blurs the lines between the intellectual attack of Fugazi and Braid's more emotional songs, Hot Water Music's hard-hitting guitars cut with the viciousness, and precision, of razor blades. Though the band broke for a brief hiatus in 1996, it quickly reformed and has helped to define the post-hardcore world.
