Designed to be discordant and atonal, the Jesus Lizard built a reputation as one of the most driven noise-rock bands of the early '90s. Two parts Big Black to one part the Birthday Party, the band's sound focused on aberrant sonic assaults. Led by producer Steve Albini, the band's studio work would feature a tough sheen, with enough attitude to give the band's notorious live shows a run for its money.
