Jimmy Eat World would cut its teeth playing pop punk, though would venture into the realms of emo by 1996. Though the band sticks to its driving punk roots, it honed its pop side with each successive release. With two records on Capitol, the band tried its hand in the major-label arena, but would return to the indie world by 2000.
