After the breakup of Bauhaus with the departure of Peter Murphy, the remaining members shifted the band’s focus to more mainstream pop, changing their name to Love and Rockets. Establishing a unique indie sound for themselves linking club-friendly sounds with standard rock conventions. Mixing dance, psychedelia and standard rock with elements of Bauhaus’ Gothic style, Love and Rockets create a musical landscape not as barren as the removed Gothic sounds of Bauhaus, though not nearly as fertile as mainstream pop.
