>> Nine Inch Nails
Mixing standard techno methods with pop arrangements, Trent Reznor's Nine Inch Nails creates a sound with the futuristic aura and impersonal sounds of industrial and techno music with pop-laden lyrics focusing on emotional breakdown. More radio-friendly than most industrial acts, Nine Inch Nails' style is viewed by many industrial purisists as a bastardization of the genre, though Reznor almost single-handedly brought electronic music into the spotlight with "Pretty Hate Machine," fusing pop, dance and industrial sounds into a disticnt style. Later releases sit closer to standard industrial, with stripped-down and grating arrangements.
