Were you shocked when you heard that White Stripes tune during a Super Bowl commercial for the Air Force Reserve? Well, it was nothing like the surprise Jack and Meg White had when they heard it.

The White Stripes are taking on THE MAN. The band is seeking legal action against the U.S. Air Force Reserve for allegedly using a re-recorded version of "Fell In Love with a Girl" in a television commercial that aired Sunday (Feb. 7). The act maintains the advertiser didn't receive permission from the powers that be to use the song in the television spot. The band released a statement about the commercial via its official website:

We believe that the song was re-recorded and used without the permission of The White Stripes, our publishers, label or management.
The White Stripes take strong objection to the Air Force Reserves presenting this advertisement with the implication that we licensed one of our songs to encourage recruitment during a war that we do not support.
The White Stripes support this nation's military, at home and during times when our country needs and depends on them. We simply don't want to be a cog in the wheel of the current conflict, and hope for a safe and speedy return home for our troops.
We have not licensed the song to the Air Force Reserve and we plan to take strong action to stop the ad containing this music.

The band also created a spot on its official website to compare the original version and the television commercial.
