Social Distortion Loses Drummer to Tom DeLonge

That Tom DeLonge must pay his band really, really well: Drummer Atom Willard bailed on another punk outfit to hit the skins for DeLonge's Angels and Airwaves.
Social Distortion revealed that it parted ways with Willard, who, foreseeing schedule conflicts between the D and Angels and Airwaves, opted to play drums in support of DeLonge's misplaced artistic piety. Angels and Airwaves will be touring in support of this year's Love (review) (Independent Release).
It's not the first time Willard's made a questionable career move that favored DeLonge: He bailed on The Offspring in 2007 for the same reason.

| yeah, sorry, but bailing on a subpar band like the Offspring is one thing... bailing on a punk icon like Social D is pure blasphemy. Still, I'll always respect Atom for his time in Rocket From the Crypt... | |
