Pixies Eyeing New Album

After a couple years on the nostalgia circuit, The Pixies are going to try for a new album.

Singer/guitarist Frank Black told NME that the band's ready to give the new songs another try, and have booked rehearsal space in January. It's been more than a year since the last time Black made claims that The Pixies will have a new album (read full story), and a few months since he said that there's no hope for new material (read full story).

He also said that there's yet another best-of set in the works. It follows up 4AD's 2004 retrospective Wave of Mutilation (read Aversion's review), 1997's Death to the Pixies (4AD) and a couple DVD releases from the act's reunion tours.

this album, if it ever comes out, better be called yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes no yes.

Here's hoping A) they actually do it this time and don't flake out like the last two times they were going to do an album, and B) it's a lot better than that "Bam Thwok" song they wrote when they got back together.

Here's to hoping it's a brilliant new record and not rushed together just for the sake of nostalgia.
